This afternoon, we will drive from Tam Coc to Hoa Lu thru tranquil villages to enjoy the daily life of people in Ninh Binh. Hoa Lu was the capital of Vietnam for 41 years (968 – 1009), of which 12 years was under the Dinh dynasty – King Dinh Tien Hoang, and 29 years later was under the Le dynasty – King Le Dai Hanh. In Hoa Lu now, 2 temples have been built on the ground of the old royal palace, one is dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang, and the other is to King Le Dai Hanh. This is the most popular site and it counts 331 Jars, including the largest single jar- said to have been the victory cup of the king Khun Jeuam. Jar site 1 was of military strategic importance during the Second Indochina War. Trenches and foxholes, anti-aircraft positions and a tank scrape can be found on the two raised areas and on top of the cave. Several bomb craters and damaged or displaced jars are a testimony to heavy fighting in this area making it an apt symbol for the ancient and modern history of Xiengkhoang at one place.  We then move on to the heritage town Luang Prabang. Luang Prabang has been claimed by UNESCO to be ‘the best preserved city in South East Asia’. During the transfer, the landscape is very interesting and gives us an insight into the daily lifestyle of the hill tribe. We will make sure to stop to visit the colorful market at Phou Khoun village the T-Juntion between Vientiane- Xiengkhoang – Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang

This tradition is unique to Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving this procession.  After breakfast, we visit The National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture throughout the ages. We then visit the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong where you can see the impressive “tree of life” mosaic set in colored glass.   Afterwards, we continue our excursion to the beautiful Kuang Sy Fall. En route, stop to visit some ethnic minority villages and see how these colorful people live. We then continue to the beautiful Kuangsy Waterfalls where you can swim in the turquoise pools or walk along forest paths. Once back to the city, we visit to The Art and Ethnology Centre to learn about the culture and history of some of the diverse ethnic groups that make up the rich tapestry of the population of Laos. We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset.
